019 taken out of service this morning and replaced by 020.....another newbie for the list
Thanks for letting us know :)

The entry-to-service of 398020 on Thu 15/10/26 now means that 13 (of 36) 398s have been in service:

398017-025, 398028-031

The number of 398s still to enter service is down to 23:

398001-016, 398026-027, 398032-036

=============================

The overall number of new Transport for Wales (TfW) trains that have been in service is now up to 124 (of 148):

76 (of 77) 197s
All 11 231s
13 (of 36) 398s
All 24 756s

This leaves 24 new TfW trains still to enter service:

1 197
23 398s

Why was 019 taken out of service? That's two withdrawn in two days, which is (to me) more noteworthy than a new one entering service for the first time.

RTT says that 020 was withdrawn at Taffs Well at 10:36 due to a problem with the onboard safety system.

I notice that 019 had long dwells at the previous two stations before it was taken out of service.
019 and 020 are both new in passenger service, so perhaps less concerning that they may be having teething troubles than if it had been units with already more days of use?

Though, to be fair, they can swap another one in very quickly at Taffs Well. Pull a unit out of service on the way up to Pontypridd and a standby can pick up the same diagram on the way back down to Cardiff Bay. Seems an ideal route for getting as many 398s as possible bedded in before sending them further afield.
