TfL order more Electrostars.

TfL have announced that they've ordered an extra 36 vehicles to strengthen the new trains on order from Bombardier for the North London Railway, and also to provide four 4-cars trains for the East London line:

So does this mean that there will be 4 carriage trains on the NLL/WDCL/WLL? Sense has prevailed.

Is the 8 class 172 for the GOBLIN true also?

I should imagine they'll have a bit of a job lenghtening the platforms at Willesden Jn High Level.

It's not been mentioned anywhere on the TfL website about 172s for London - they're for WM.

I'd say the main reason would be the fact that it would affect a lot of stations if none are lengthened, thus the 4th car would probably never get used!

As for Willesden Jn, the problem here would be the fact that the trains tend to be well loaded throughout the day, thus making it very difficult to move forward in the train once you've heard an announcement. The desired option would be to have one set at the front & back not open, but the starting signal at this station would prevent this as it is located at the platform's end.
