At least it does on iOS, with version 2.0.0 released on 13 January. Android users will have to wait a bit longer.

Transport for London (TfL) has released its latest update to the free TfL Go app, which will make it easier for customers to keep tabs on their fares and journey history while on the move.

The update will allow customers to easily access their contactless or Oyster online account and then view their journey history directly in the TfL Go app, rather than having to do so via the TfL website or Oyster and Contactless app. They will also find it easier to check and apply for a refund for any incomplete journeys, top up pay as you go credit and buy adult rate season tickets for their Oyster card via the app. Customers can also create a contactless or Oyster account on the app if they don't already have one. The update is being rolled out to all TfL Go users over the next few weeks, after which point TfL will look to close down its Oyster and Contactless app, which launched in September 2017.

In which case there’s quite a long way to go before the app will meet those aspirations. The information is useful, but the app still doesn’t allow interaction.

As of today TfL Go has Oyster/contactless account functionality on Android too.

Just had a look at my contactless journey history on the app and there's nothing listed pre-December 2024; possibly another consequence of the cyber attack since my latest journey before then (still listed on the TfL website and outgoing Oyster/contactless app) was made in July 2024.

Yes, a whole 14 days!

Well, as I have v2.0.0, there’s nothing available to download from the App Store, and I can’t do any more than a fortnight ago, my comment stands. The functionality isn’t there right now.

That has appeared for me now but it wasn't there yesterday afternoon.

It doesn't pick up card names from the web account which is annoying if you have a lot of cards added to your TfL account.

Android. I signed in a few minutes ago and it showed my two Oyster cards with the names I've given them.
Same for me.

Does the web version let you name Contactless cards, which is maybe what they are referring to? I've not used it in a long time.

Perhaps it works differently for contactless identities. For my part I've not used Oyster in ages, so the rest of my post relates to contactless only as that's what my TfL account experience is limited to.

Same here; just changed a few card names on the web portal today and all that changes on TfL Go is the order in which my cards are listed. They don't transfer the other way either, as (you're already aware) the message Contactless card names do not sync with your TfL account tells you.

I've attached a redacted image of the app's hidden cards list (names are mine*); it only appears when you hide cards on TfL Go, and their status doesn't transfer to the web portal. Cards you hide on the web portal disappear from TfL Go completely (i.e. they don't even transfer to the app's hidden cards list), and when you unhide them on the web portal they reappear on the app without any previous names you gave them.

[* These were virtual cards I tried adding to my listings ages ago; they finally appeared during TfL's ongoing fix of the cyberattack mess, well after their permanent deletion (which happens every time I remove the physical card from Google Pay)]

I can see data, but not interact with it in any way at all. The window is welcome, but well short of what TfL are announcing.

I’m now getting a warning message in the Oyster/contactless app telling me it’s being retired and to download TFL Go.

I can see my Oyster and Contactless cards now under the new "Payments" tile on the Android app. At present all that's actually showing up if I tap one of my cards then scroll down to "More history" is a list of my journeys by final destinations! I can tap each journey to see where I started. I can't then see anything further about what taps I made intermediately. Correct single prices and daily totals, however, are displayed.

To be totally honest I had forgotten ever logging in at all on TfL Go, so I was surprised to see it in there, even though I had heard of the forthcoming merger of functions. I have taken the opportunity to uninstall the old app.

Yes, I’ve just installed tfl go, journey history is the same on iOS. Hopefully they’ll fix it to show each journey in full as per the old app. I’ll probably leave the old app installed for a while longer yet, at least until it stops working if I haven’t removed it before then.

The TFL Go app seems to be a downgrade compared to older oyster app, it shows contactless journeys put not at the same level of detail, for instance my journeys via overground and then underground shows just start and end, not the intermediate ones (which are shown on older app).

Agreed. The old Oyster app shows the full journey history, including OSI interchanges and pink validator touches. TfL Go only shows the start and finish touches.

It also isn't aware of the existence of Brent Cross West, despite it having been open since December 2023 (admittedly neither's the "old" TfL Oyster & Contactless app.) No doubt TfL will try to blame this on the cyberattack/there being an r in the month/insert excuse here, but it shows correctly on the TfL website.

Brent Cross West is showing fine on my app. I can even see departure information.

Apologies. I should have been clearer.

It doesn't show in your journey history on either app (at least on Android.)

On the Oyster app it shows as "Unknown" and on TfL Go it shows as blank with a question mark icon.

Yes I was frustrated by this yesterday. It’s useful to know that you’ve had a successful pink reader touch registered during the journey

I have to say that this doesn’t really bother me. I use the app to check what I’ve been charged when I’m out but can look up the full details, if I need to, on the website afterwards.

For when I need a statement, the old app integration was very poor but at least did give a path to obtain a statement. The new one doesn't even provide that.

I assume a PDF form of the statement will continue to be available via the desktop site? Albeit this is very clunky to obtain and sometimes I find won't work at all on my phone.

Another change is that TfL Go only appears to display up to 8 weeks of contactless journey history,* so for the full 13 months you'll now have to use the website (from which PDF/CSV statements are still available to download).

[* Not sure about Oyster cards but I believe they're already limited to 8 weeks, cyberattack grace extensions aside]

Might as well just go to the Web site in the first place where everything can be found.

I dont know what is the obsession with cut down apps. Mobile phones are more popular for some uses than desktop computers, and yet I find some companies prioritise desktop computers.

May be the functionality is due and they just haven't implemented it yet.

Another difference I’ve spotted is in the Oyster app, if you have a hoppa fare the second bus shows as “0.00”, whereas on TFL Go it says “free”.

Update, as no one has responded since I last posted in this thread….the old Oyster app has now been withdrawn, if you open it you get a page telling you to download TfL Go and saying “we’ve moved” and “this app is no longer supported”.

Another irritating (to me) factor is the old app had a link to the TfL website, whereas TFL Go doesn’t appear to have one (or if it does I can’t find it).
