Hi all,

Last week I had to report my contactless credit card lost which resulted in the TFL payment at the end of the day being declined by my bank. I made numerous attempts to pay the outstanding fare and in trying to do so I accidentally removed the card from my registered account only to find out I could not re-add it as it was already blocked by my bank. I called the TFL helpline but they were unable to help me and take the payment from another card. I am a bit worried that I will get a penalty fare even though the card was tapped in and out succesfully and has never failed an inspection. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How would you get a Penalty Fare?
I wouldn't worry about it. The worst that would happen is TfL would block the card from being used on TfL systems, but as your bank has already blocked it, it doesn't matter

You won't get a penalty fare.

I would contact them from my online account, explain briefly what has happened, and ask them how they would like you to pay. Keep a copy of the message (screen print if necessary) then wait for them to respond.

If you've got a case reference then that's fine. Keep it safe.

@tony_bulg I'm in a very similar situation to what you've described above - can I ask if there was any resolution to this issue?

Thank you
