TfGM Tranche 3 speculation

Being the biggest operator with five depots, Stagecoach always had a lot to lose with franchising. They've lost one (Wigan), retained one (Middleton) and are gaining two (Queens Road and Oldham) so aren't doing too badly. If they come out with just one or two large franchises, they'll still be a sizeable operator in the Manchester bus scene.

I personally if stagecoach win two large franchise they would keep both Stockport and Sharston.

As I said, Monday will probably be the new date to coincide with the launch of Tranche 2. I’m hearing Andy is in Oldham on Monday morning.

I have a gut feeling Stagecoach will only get Stockport and lose the rest with Rotala and First getting small franchises, not sure who will get the rest of the large franchises but I can see Go Ahead getting at least one.

They are allowed to, it just isn't meant to be promoting Councillors, Candidates etc (So should come from the Lead for TfGM rather than the Mayor's office etc)

Somehow, I don't think that the TfGM franchising remit works like that "fair shares for all" methodology.

And public sector procurement regulations certainly don't work like that!

However they do allow any of the bidders to notify intent of a legal challenge to the award, notification being made in the 10-day standstill period immediately prior to the public announcement. Not saying at all that this is necessarily the case here though.

I rang TfGM at noon today with regards to the latest update on when the Tranche 3 successful tendering will be put in the public domain and was told they had no news on the matter to impart to the general public.

I think it's best if we all just wait for the announcement to be made. Constantly posting "is there any news yet?" isn't going to make it happen any quicker and it just clogs the thread up with pointless posts.

When there is any movement, you can rest assured that it will be posted here - there will be a thousand people tripping over eachother to be first with the news!
