You can now get £30 worth of train tickets for £10 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers.
I just picked this up on the Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert website and thought it might be useful.
For those with a Tesco Clubcard you now have access to the Red Spotted Hanky website where you can book train tickets. It appears to be the same booking site as East Coast.
The real advantage is, for every £10 worth of Tesco Clubcard Vouchers you use you get £30 worth of train tickets.
I don't have a Tesco Clubcard but for those who do here's the link: -
http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=1916

Mojo - I have also posted this in your sticky re on-line fares.

Had a quick look at the site to try and find out if you could purchase regional Rovers/Rangers with this offer (or even a railcard!)?

I am almost certain that rovers/rangers and railcards cannot be purchased on this site.

Get the tickets, apply for a refund, minus £10 admin fee, but at least you've converted to cash.

Err.... maybe not. Refunds for non use of tickets are usually given back via the original method of payment. Can't see you being refunded in Tesco Vouchers. So, most likely to receive Rail Travel Vouchers. Highly unlikely you'll receive cash.

But then at least you can buy from any outlet and get rangers/rovers/seasons/inclusive attractions/excess!

Hmm, I can't even see you being refunded in Rail Travel Vouchers.

Basically, you go on Tesco Clubcard's website and order the amount of RedSpottedHanky evouchers you want. Then, within a few days, an evoucher is added to your RedSpottedHanky account, which you use to purchase tickets. So I imagine that refunds would simply be given in the form of another evoucher. However, I have queried this with RedSpottedHanky. (It would be nice to use my Tesco vouchers toward an ALR!)

I've just had confirmation that if you purchase a ticket using converted Tesco Clubcard vouchers and then apply for a refund, you will be given the refund in loyalty points (eg. £10 refund = 100 loyalty points) which you can use toward your next purchase.

Unfortunately, refunds are not issued in cash, cheques, or Rail Travel Vouchers. What a pity! :(

Would that be the case even if you collected the ticket and then took it to the ticket office and requested a refund?
Are refund requests referred back to the original ticket seller, or will a ToC handle it internally?
Also, just out of interest, if anybody has bought a ticket with the clubcard vouchers, what is the letter by the payment amount on the ticket?

It's W :)

Just out of interest, what do these letters actually mean? :)

From my experience, TOC's will not refund a ticket at the station if you bought it online. There is usually an address you have to return it to.

There are times a refund can be initiated at a station, but normally tickets bought online must be returned to the issuer, by the method they state on their website.

Is this a permanent offer, as opposed to a limited time thing? If yes, remind me to get a Clubcard and to go to Tesco more often.

...Yes. Sure. Like that'll happen  Only Tesco I ever visit is back home!

I LOVE Tesco. They have so many loopholes! (which, I would point out, are legal)

I popped there yesterday, with a shallow trolley stuffed full of nice (expensive!) things like raspberries, bacon, smoked salmon, yoghurt's etc. TOTAL PRICE: £35(ish). PRICE I PAID: £5.15!

Incidentally this caused me problems collecting tickets today. I bought tickets and an East Coast catering voucher - the Loyalty points covered the voucher in full and my tickets in part, and the machine at Newcastle printed out my tickets with my credit card (marked X) but refused to give me the food voucher (marked W) as it said the payment card mismatched.

This took some explaining to the staff as they were surprised the same booking had different payment methods and had never heard of Redspottedhanky.com and its loyalty point scheme.
