Quick question, for TER E tickets in the cote de azur region (around nice basically), are they tied to specific trains and do they need to be validated before travel?

Not train-specific-except perhaps for an odd special offer for long distance.
Yes/no ´valider: depends on type of ticket/where bought-IF there is a date on-and it will only be valid on that date, then obviously not. Perhaps it might even be possibe to make the choice yes/no when buying at machine. But these things tend to change by the month and region in FR, so attention is always needed.
There is (perhaps summer season only) also a kind of dayticket in the regional area around Nice-along coast and to Grasse.

And a 3/7/14 day ticket for all public transport in the departement. Except TGV.
