I've been researching a trip through central France, using TER trains (ie not on a reserved train/seat like TGVs).
Generally they are open tickets without discounts (except for 25% senior discount in some TER regions) - equivalent to our Anytime Singles.
Sometimes the SNCF booking engine seems to indicate such tickets are valid on any train on the day of travel, but the small print in the generic French Conditions of Carriage seems to indicate a 7-day validity.
I'm looking to break my journey overnight, so a 7-day validity would suit me, just using the same ticket next day to continue (eg Paris-Troyes-Belfort, breaking the journey at Troyes).
Does anybody know the validity situation and break of journey options?
It doesn't save much money, but avoids rebooking for each day of travel.
Does it make any difference if I buy them as e-tickets?
Any info welcome.

I'am afraid you are mislaid_ the tickets as such are indeed-mostly-valid 7 days, but thats the-now severely shortened-allowable time to USE them for ''composter''=validate, after which the price and length of the trip determines the validity. This period used to be 2 monthes till around summer '17. For shorter trips, its now definitely only 1 day to use it.
The 25% OFFpeak only (periode bleu) senior discount should still be available on all TER though.
e-tix only valid on day chosen, plus possibly the next day for very long trips hampered with meagre services.

I don't know the answer to your question, but it is also worth looking at TER "bons plans"...pretty much like advance fares in the UK, but for some reason often only available via "bons plans" web pages and don't come up on SNCF booking engines, perhaps as they're a regional government product? Google is your friend

Thanks folks. Much as I expected, really.
I've had a look at "bons plans", and sometimes you do get a good fare - but not always.
SNCF don't make it easy to find the cheap regional fares - first find your region!
eg turns out there's a TER-only Dijon-Paris fare of €12 rather than the normal €39 (but only bookable 4 weeks ahead).
