Are you an employee or former employee of either Northern Rail or First Capital Connect?

A television company is kieen to speak to people about their experiences of working for both companies for a proposed documentary about Britain’s railways today. We'd like to speak to customers of these companies and also people with current or recent experience of working for them, in confidence if necessary.

If you can help, please email swalsh@truenorth.tv or shey@truenorth.tv and we will be pleased to contact you.

Has the OP approached the companies involved and requested to speak to their staff?

I doubt that you will get many serving staff responding through such an approach (if they have any sense)

With ex staff, you might first want to enquire why they are ex staff

I would echo the above completely.. especially that last line.

Are people not allowed to retire or move on to other TOCs in a different or better role then are you only thinking about them being sacked?

I didn't say that, I said "enquire" did I not? That means ask and make a judgement

Hmmm...Northern and FCC are usually bottom in the PPM figures aren't they? And have amongst the oldest rolling stock...

A balanced docu here or am I just being cynical?

Serving rail staff, are prohibited from speaking to the media, without the permission from their management. The railway is a small world; would be most unwise to participate in anything like this, even if they had moved on from the company in question.

Totally agree, if you value you your job and you want a peaceful life wait for your company or managers to organise any interviews etc.

The fact they only want to speak to employees of two TOCs for a doco on the state of the railways today should ring alarm bells.

It seems to me they have an agenda already and just want to find evidence to back that up.

This is a company that has produced such high quality material as My Fake Baby, Addicted to Surrogacy and My Mums used to be Men.

Beware

I think what was being hinted at was that there are, certainly on FCC, a couple of ex employees who have become 'twitter trolls' with their own agenda against the companies. There are reasons they are ex employees and they are only to happy to leak info and actually put out fictional 'facts' about FCC to try and get some sort of revenge. Currently they are trying to say that the number of trains being cancelled due to lack of available drivers is down to a mix of industrial action and lazy drivers phoning in sick as they can't be bothered to work. Neither are true as is very little else in their 'campaigns'.

It would be very worrying if any tv company actually tried to take what they said and present it as fact in a tv programme.

Still, I'm sure these programme makers will be doing lots of research to make sure they give a truthful account of the companies concerned and won't just follow their own agenda and that based on a couple of disgruntled ex employees...

Although their current employer may approve of making negative comments about a competitor...

For example, if you worked for a bearded gentleman he might actively encourage negative comments concerning an Aberdeen based company.

Might even give a bonus.
