Telephone Interview tomorrow with GWR

I have a job interview tomorrow with GWR and am not vey good with telephone interviews am just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to ace an interview? And what sort of things to say

Depends what role it is for.......?

They are used as another screening tool to whittle down the applicants.

I suspect (if your role is to be customer facing) they might ask for examples when you have demonstrated certain competencies. Eg.... tell me about a time you've given excellent customer service or an example of working in a team etc etc.

They might also ask you what you know about the company, what you know about the role, why you want the job etc.

All fairly standard interview questions.

I gather people conducting the interview do shed loads of these, so don't expect loads of interaction. They want you answer some basic questions on your feet which they will scribble down.

I had this with a First Bus Application to be a Bus Driver, particularly with the excellent customer service example, however interviewer threw me quite a bit when asked for another example of excellent customer service so make sure your ready with at least 2 examples if it involves customer service.

Research GWR on the internet and what they say about themselves

Look how many services they run, what the PPM is, how many stations they run etc

Write it all down and have it in front of you as a crib sheet

Ahh okay thank you (: I just get nervous at interviews and then balls it up haha! Last time I had an interview with FGW I just kept on saying erm like my mind went blank...

I have only ever done the telephone interview for the roles of conductor and driver with the First Group but I would expect the following commonality between the three for interview questions:

Why you want to do the role?
Why you want to work for First Group?

And yes, there are bound to be questions about customer service. I found that the conductor interview was more intense in this respect and tbh I would expect the interview for the TE role to be no different being very customer facing.

I wonder how someone who doesn't know me feels it appropriate to question my sincerity?

It's awful when you don't get through, I've been there myself and had to wait another 6 months!

You could apply for another post, there seems to be lots of opportunities at Exeter X X
