Hi, first time poster here.

Managed to get lucky and get an application in for Customer Service Professional (conductor?) for FTPE and got a telephone interview coming up.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this stage before and is able to offer any advice?

I'm thinking it will probably be a competency based interview with "give me an example..." type questions?

Any past or present employees of First Group who could offer any other information would be well received too.

Thanks :)

Hi, Just be yourself and talk about your experiences - if they ask you about something you haven't experienced just say so and say 'But in that situation I would do this..' There is loads of stuff you can look at for interview advice by using the search on here or even google but just be yourself because if you are not it will be obvious. If you want some help structuring your answers then google STAR interview techniques.

Good luck

First and foremost, you will be asked about questions about giving good customer service. Secondly, you will be asked about why you want to do the role working for Transpennine. Do not really want to give away anymore than that because I have already declined a similar public request and I did not want to exhibit positive discrimination, not to mention jeopardise my own chances.

To which depot have you employed by the way?

You have about 20-30 mins call, in which they will explain the role, the purpose of this step of the recruitment process, the next step, etc etc. they are on strict time scales, so will probably interrupt repeatedly, clarifying what you have said, asking you to expand. It is only the 3 questions, Customer service is def one, think another is dealing with a situation and sorry cant remember the other. Try and be straight to the point, I tend to talk around it a bit and did not progress from my phone interview about 2 months ago, which is a bit annoying as I was on hold for 6 months after completing a different recruitment process last year for the same role!?!

Good luck!!! :D

Thanks a lot for the responses so far. And Dunford, I've applied for Liverpool Lime Street.
