The suburban lines are 455 only, and AFAIK services were only extended towards Guildford direction.

Never mind the units, with engineering work come sheds and OTP, much more interesting!
Managed to get a couple of shots from New Malden LC today and then the added bonus of a Metrobus ride to Wimbledon.
From the level crossing http://dennis-lance.fotopic.net/p39107609.html A bit more patience and a wander around the area would almost certainly have yielded a few more.
