Oy leave off my beloved 142s!
Thus is 1 of the most historic and long running XC services, harking well back into the BR eara and whilst admitedly itd be more fun on BR stock, esp if that stock was an HST the service is on borrowed time with shortening to Bristol or the Midlands on the cards in the XC recast so voyager or not its bash soon or not at all.

Morning all,
I know it's been a while since I last posted an update, and this one has been delayed by about a week itself. Here's the latest from Tech Towers:
- Tuesday 4th April finally sees my return to the rails, with Blindtraveller joining me for the majority of the trip. It's a multi-day visit to London, with days off work booked especially for this. Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th April see us both in the capital before we head home on Friday 7th April. Expect a lot of red pen leaps here there and everywhere as this basher is in dire need of getting his books filled somewhat! Hashtag for this trip is #TechsTwoFingersToTerrorism, a slightly modified version of the hashtag suggested by a former forum member. This trip is most badly needed to get my head back in the game, as some of you will already be aware it's been a tough few weeks!
- Beyond that nothing is booked or even planned, as it's Easter weekend the week after that and I suspect I'll be working on Good Friday as well as Easter Monday. There's usually a farce of some description on major weekends on the railway, so I'll probably be better off working anyway!
- The ALR with Blindtraveller in June is still on of course, less than 3 months to go now! There's still a few bits to work out and pay for mind, but it's happening. Hashtag is yet to be announced on Twitter, so subject to confirmation it's #bashersintheUK which is a reference to a favourite Nightcore tune, Ravers in the UK, and I've been saving this hashtag for a long time ready for such a trip!

Hello all,
It's time for an update, long overdue though it may be, for what's in the pipeline!
- 11th/12th May is "87% Cleared And Counting" which will see me get more LM shacks cleared, and a long overdue return to shack scoring!
- 19th May has yet to have a title declared, but is the SVR diesel gala.
- 26th May I have yet to make a firm plan for, but it *should* involve some shack scoring. Whether that be on ATW, LM or elsewhere I have yet to decide as of 7th May.
- Following that, it's either 2nd or 9th June for my next proper bash. I will not rule out post-work mini bashes anywhere of course. As of 7th May the decision remains to be made, but I suspect a good clearout somewhere will be made.
- 16th June is a dental checkup, so no bashing that day with possible exception to a mini bash. That depends on appointment timekeeping and what comes up from London!
- Q2 2017 will bow out with the biggest bash of 2017, the ALR with Blindtraveller. That really can't come fast enough, and as I type this prior to posting Day 1 will be almost over in just 1,128 hours time!
Beyond that I have literally no idea what I'm doing. A visit to SPT Land is more than required, but I need to book some time off to do that properly. I also have my crosshairs set on a visit to a required country somewhere, although I confess to not knowing where yet. Italy appeals, but so does Spain, Switzerland and Denmark!
Finally, as my Rolling Review will touch upon, I'm not doing Live Trip Reports now. The passion has gone, and I'm enjoying my bashing more now I'm not wondering when I'll get time to tweet the next update. It also allows for more YouTube'ing which is more important on a day-to-day basis!
I'm not worrying about Q3 yet, that will get figured out after the ALR. Anyway, that's all for now, and to one and all, happy bashing!

Switzerlandis as expensive as Norway so give it a miss for now. Spane, czeck republic and Poland are cheep and key destinations on your favourite airline.

Good point on Czech Republic and Poland, I have been heavily focused on clearing Western Europe!
Can recommend a blitz on Malaga if you want some sunshine with your bashing. Two suburban rail lines (One every 20 minutes and one every 60 to 120 depending on how mainline services slot in) along with a Light Rail system that uses Urbos 3 Trams like in Edinburgh, which are operated by fairly new 4 carriage Series 464 trains. There's a few museum pieces to see in the depot as you approach Malaga Maria Zambrano.
Seville is the next big city to the north and has a few older EMUs to play with along with the Metro and a very small battery-like Tram line. The services between Malaga and Seville (One route being the scenic 'classic' line and one being the High Speed Line via Cordoba operated by 160mph Baby Pendolinos) are fairly cost friendly, maybe looking at about 60EUR at the most for a walkup return.
If you're feeling really ambitious, you can blast your way to Madrid and back in a day and have time to bash locally, on the AVE trains which was about 100EUR walkup return.
