Taunton turbacks

Slightly confused but when a local or any terminating train at Taunton arrives and unloads passengers, where does it turn around?

I have been to Taunton station before but not for a while now.

This is because I have the JT Bristol to Exeter route for TS15 and I've made some free roam sessions and when I take a train from Bristol TM to Taunton I don't know where the trains are meant to turn around.

Is there a turnback siding or do the trains go into a yard or just simply turn around on the platform?

Turn around in the platform (2 and 3), however trains can also reverse out towards Exeter to get to Platforms 4 and 5 or out towards Bristol to get into Platform 6.

Trains cannot turn round from Platform 2. If they arrive there they have to shunt out (usually East End) to either platforms 3,4, 5 or the Bay (6) if a longer wait.` Short turn rounds invariably use Platform 3 so they can reverse straight out. Platforms 2, 4 and 5 are non bi-directional and Platform 6 (Bay) is not accessible direct from the East.

Incorrect I'm afraid. Platform 2 is fully bidirectional, E385 is the Up Platform starter.

Thanks for correcting me. I don't think it ever happens, though, prefer to use 3.

There is at least one terminator that is booked to arrive and depart from Platform 2.
And one that is booked to terminate in 3 and shunt over to 6 via the east end.

I was quite surprised when I worked that train to be routed into platform 2, but as you say it is a booked move.

Normally Cardiff Terminators on 3 just change ends. Sometimes Trains for Cardiff/Stoppers starting from Taunton use 6 but sometimes trains come into for example 3 go out to like a siding i guess and then back into 4/5 etc.

Its not like a siding like, its like the up main line like!

Normally when having to clear Platform 3, a DMU would shunt back out to Signal 604 then back into Platform 6 (Bay). They do not lay over in an actual siding.
