Taunton to Prestatyn

I have to travel from Taunton to Prestatyn next Saturday (19th Feb 11) and have looked on the CrossCountry site and tickets are around the £100 mark and was just wondering if anyone can get it any cheaper as not to sure how the split ticketing would work out.
I am travelling alone and have no railcards etc, prefer to travel after 9am.

Any help at all will be appreciated.

Taunton - Shrewsbury at 09:10 (change Newport) is currently £29 advance.
Shrewsbury - Wrexham Gen is £6.80 Anytime Single.
Wrexham Gen - Prestatyn is £11.10 Anytime Single.

Total: £46.90.

Almost certainly there are cheaper options - I just checked this one.

Brilliant thanks for that all the fare I have been looking at need me to change at Birmingham New Street didn't know there was any other route.

A single is £99.10, but a return is only £1 more so you may as well buy a return just in case you find some use for it (Your post reads as if you only want a single so I will assume you want a single) the Off Peak single/return (SVS/SVR) is valid on any train scheduled to depart at or after 0500 weekdays and at any time at weekends.

You could split at Bristol, Cheltenham, Birmingham and Chester to reduce the price. All Off Peak or Anytime Day Singles works out at about £66 (walk on) Other combinations may be cheaper. The first train this would be valid on during weekdays would be the 0751 from Taunton, but on a Saturday is of course valid on any train (for £3 more you could get an earlier train using Anytime tickets as far as BHM).

Only need a single as I am moving up there to work for the next year so the return will be no use at all, thanks for the other info though
