Taunton connection time query

I know someone who's booked on the following services:

12:07 Piccadilly-Taunton XC service
15:50 Taunton-Penzance GW service

I was wondering what the connection time is like for these 2 services and would the person I know catching 15:50 make it in time and what would happen if say 12:07 runs late, is there a chance that the 15:50 would be held so they could catch it

They may do if they move quickly. Why did they not choose to change at Exeter St Davids? Am I missing something? It may be worth amending one of the tickets or buying a Taunton-Exeter St Davids single, I suppose.

That depends on whether the Taunton to Penzance ticket is an advance (or indeed, if the whole thing is one advance ticket) -if its an advance saying board at Taunton, they must board at Taunton, no ifs, no buts.

Indeed. I am simply suggesting a solution which may be appropriate, but I should have been clearer!

The XC looks to be booked for platform 3 with the GW being on 2. This entails a walk via the subway which can generally be done is less than two minutes unless the lift is required which can slow things down a tad.

Do both trains stop at Tiverton Parkway?

That would be the same platform.

What day would be nice because we could look at the calling patterns.

The 1207 from Manchester terminates at Exeter. Therefore if an easier connection is wanted changing at Tiverton Pathway if your ticket allows is what I would recommend this as it is same platform and both trains do call.

Furthermore should the train from Manchester run late and miss the connection. I would imagine the way forward would be continue to Exeter and take the following XC service to Plymouth and then take the 1755 from Plymouth to Penzance. The connection at Taunton Will not be held as there are later trains available.

It would take a very very harsh member of traincrew to penalise you for chosing to change at Tiverton Parkway for accessibility reasons if these are Advance tickets. As mentioned above Tiverton will give you a guaranteed same-platform connection which you cannot miss.
