Hi,
I use SWTs 'Touch' Smartcard to load my weekly season ticket.

It reminds me to 'tap in' at either end of my journey. I have no choice at one end because it has barriers but at my local station there are no barriers.

Can someone explain if there is any point in tapping in when I dont need to to leave or join the train please?

If you've opted into automatic delay repay, you won't get it without tapping in/out.

Tapping your smartcard is also useful for a number of other reasons, e.g. proving where you where at a specific moment in time.

From what I understand, Automatic Delay Repay doesn't work when one end is a gateline and the other is a validator - from my correspondence with SWR, the issue lies with having different suppliers for each...
