It looks like it's in Railfreight triple grey, but in the middle of a repaint into the older Railfreight livery (that then may or may not have a red solebar stripe depending on chosen variety).

I think the Livery is Railfreight It had new style coal symbols but are missing in this photo, I think it maybe undergoing repairs at the moment glad you like it its a favorite of mine.

Cheers, they look a bit like a cross betwee a Deltic and a Class 37, but they do have that distinct "nose", yes I think I like them too. I hope you'll forgive though, if I say I stil prefer Deltics and 47s though

At a guess the above looks like a Class 03 perhaps? Or at least an older version of what became an 03.

I've no idea myself, the Avon Valley's website simply says it was built in 1941 for the MoD.
