I think they probably could. Class 142s used to run on similar bodies (ie. two wheels at the end of each coach like a bus rather than four in a single bogie), so having one between coaches surely shouldn't be an issue as long as the coaches are the appropriate shape and length.

Although physically it would probably fit, I suspect like Jacobs bogies there would be a presumption against them on the UK network due to the heavier track wear from having fewer wheels to spread the weight of the train over.

Aren't Jacobs bogies used on UK rails with the class 373? This is only on HS1 however, but they used to run on the conventional network until HS1 was built.

Jacobs bogies are used on the Stadler FLIRT, on both the European and the UK's 755/756/231. In addition to the 373

The Talgo is very low-slung, so without a major re-design it would foul the structure gauge below platform level.
