Hi everyone. I passed my assessment and interview with TPE, I have now been placed in the talent pool. I was wondering if anyone has been through the talent pool with Transpennine Express before? What should I expect? Is there anything you would recommend to increase my chances? The position was for a trainee conductor.

Thank you for your time.

There is nothing you can do to increase your chances now. You've passed the stages and now you're waiting for a vacancy. All you can do now is wait and be patient.

I’ve recently been out in a Reseve Pool with another TOC too, did Trans Pennine say how long you would be in the Talent Pool for?

They haven't said Donhamer, I rang HR but they could only speak in general terms and couldn't offer any information in my case. The lady on the phone mentioned you can only be in the talent pool for 6 months, I have seen other people mention 6 months on here but others seem to be in the talent pool for longer and get a position.

I believe the TPE interview score is valid for 6 months. After which if a vacancy arises you’d have to interview again.
I have heard of some who applied for TPE be in a holding pool for longer but past the 6 month point were re-interviewed.
Disclaimer though, some of the current intake of trainee drivers interviewed about 18 months ago and loaded on this course without redoing theirs.

I was in the talent pool for trainee driver a few years back.
I was told it was valid for Six months.
I gave up and carried on with life then a call came offering me a position Ten months later and almost a year since I sat the assessments.
I had my medical and took up the offer.

Excellent. It’s hard trying not to think about it too much as it could possibly be months away, I only found out I was in the talent pool yesterday.

I think they will be planning an intake of trainees for the May timetable change as more services are planned for next year so sit back you’ve done the hard work and enjoy Xmas.

While it’s great to keep thinking positive, you also need to be prepared for the slight chance it might not go to plan.

I was in the above talent pool, received no call or email regarding this recent course and now sadly the talent pool is no more. If vacancies arise in future with TPE, they've advised I need to reapply and go through the whole process (driver assessments aside) again, rather than just the DMI.

Like you, I thought positive, "I’ve passed, people have sat in talent pools years, it’s just a waiting game". I was devastated when I called up to ask for an update and was told they’ve closed the talent pool and my application was no longer on their system.

I really don’t mean to rain on your parade, it's great you’ve got this far, huge well done to you, but until you have that contract in your hand, anything can happen.

Hello chumypup. Yeah from reading other threads I have realised that there's a large number of people who get put into the talent pools and don't manage to get a position. I really do hope I get a position with Transpennine but if the worst did happen and I didn't get anything then I still have my current job. I'm very realistic about my chances, but hopefully something will come up.
