Hi all. I applied for trainee driver with Northern October last year. This month I got invited for an interview, I passed. I've done the Psychometric yesterday and passed that. Just had an email today to say I'm in the talent pool. What's the likely hood of getting a start? Any insights appreciated

No real definitive answer I'm afraid, I've known people be in a pool for about an hour before being offered a start, conversely I've known people be in them for a year or more and never receiving any offer.

First of all congratulations on getting as far as you did. As for the wait it can vary depending on a number of factors. A friend of mine recently started with another TOC as a guard but he was put on hold with them for around two months due to a lack of training dates. Best thing you could do is every month or two just sending an email to recruitment asking for an update on the application, this does two things. The first shows you are still interested in the role and the second reminds them that you are still there. I don't know if it was on this forum or another one but I have read somewhere of people being forgotten by the TOCs when placed into a talent pool.

There is definitely some movement. I’ve been in the pool for a little over a month, was offered a start date yesterday (medical pending)

Went into the pool in April, was offered a medical this week which I declined.

Applied in August and passed everything on the 20/09/2022. I was offered a start date of November about an hour after I finished the assessments.

Some TOCs your interview/psychometrics are only valid for 9 months, if you're not out of the talent pool by then you have to re-apply. Hopefully that doesn't happen to many people.

I had a phonecall at 1130 today. Had my medical at 1400 today. Pleased to say I passed. Imagine I will be hearing soon about a start.
