Those tests are done on paper. You have to count the tones (some people use their hands under the table) then write the number down.

Send a PM if you like I’ll try and answer as many as I can.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread!
Since starting my guards job, I've seen improvements on my score on the Group Bourdon Test.

I'm at a bit of a crossroad in terms of what to do next.
I can either have another shot at driving, or go for a Conductors job with LNW at Crewe, both of which require me to retake the test.

My current results are:

Perception and Attention
Targets Omitted --- 1
Marked Incorrect -- 0

Speed
Total Cells -- 1451
Mean Cell Time -- 0.268
Median Cell Time -- 0.230

Completed Rows -- 55
Mean Row Time -- 6.685
Median Row Time -- 6.670

Vigilance
Row Fluctuation -- 1.91

Feeling pretty happy with results anyway!
Hi. I'm new here. I have applied for train driver position, passed the online assessment, now awaiting for the assessment in the academy. How do I find how to practice more to pass the structured and the managers interview? I want to practice as much as I can, but I only have the dots here... thanks

HI Guys

had my assessment on Thursday and unfortunately failed the memory test. only 4 went through out of the 16 to the PM session.

I passed the other 2 so wont need to re sit those.

they say i can re apply in 6 months from the assessment day

does anyone know how that works? ive gone onto the MTR website today out of curiosity and there are no vacancies and worried this will be the same in 6 months time.

gutted cause it was the ilford depot and scared that wont be available next time either.

You have 6-months until you can retake the tests, but up to 5-years as a limit so in that time you'll find something I'm sure. You'll only have to take the assessments you failed no matter when you apply again (be that in 6-months or 3 years), as long as its within the TOC's limit (usually between 3 and 5 years).

thank you - do i need to keep checking the MTR website for vacancies or do we have to go through another route for re applying ?

You'll need to reapply in the normal way, and I've yet to see a TOC have a different approach unfortunately. You should be able to set up alerts though, so you don't have to keep checking? Also, bear in mind you don't have to restrict yourself to MTR, as your assessment results are valid across the industry including freight operators. No matter who you go to, you'll still only need to retake the parts you failed.

Sorry to hear that mate.

Don’t torture yourself, set a reminder on your phone (or somewhere) for 5/5.5 months time and then start checking TOCs websites or this forum for jobs.

Another tip is do not rely on job alerts as I signed up to all of them and received none.

Best of luck in the future.

Hi all,
I'm begining to start practicing the tests for driving again.
Would the OPC have details about my last assessment day, and would they be able to tell me which parts of my previous assessment I have passed enhanced/national level?
I am aware they can't tell me my proper scores, but just a brief overview so I know what I need to work on.
TIA
Matt

The OPC should have your details as it wasn’t that long ago, but also any other TOC you apply for will be able to check what assessments you would need to do once you get through.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me which TOCs accept the 'National Level pass as oppose to the 'Enhanced Level?
As I said previously, I took the Driver tests in 2016, and failed on the Group Bourdon.
OPC Informed me that I passed my other two tests, one to the 'Enhanced' standard and one to the 'National Standard. I've sent them an email to find out which ones which.
The tests I undertook were:

The Trainability for Rules and Procedures Test Part 1 and 2

· The Group Bourdon Concentration Test

· The Test of Everyday Attention for Occupational Assessment (TEA-Occ)

How long would my results last for? I know I'd have to retake the GB again, but for my other two? If I remember correctly, Northern accept results up to 5 years old?

Thanks
Matt
