Taking an earlier connection on Advance ticket permitted?

Hi,

I have a "Specified LNER trains & connecting services" advance purchase ticket from York to Glasgow, changing at Edinburgh. Seats assigned on LNER, seats unassigned on Scotrail.

The York train pulls in to Edinburgh at 2206. The fast Scotrail trains leave at .15 and .45 past the hour. My itinerary tells me to get the 2245 to Glasgow, but it's only a 1-minute walk from platform 6 to 12!

1. Is my ticket technically valid to get the 2215 train instead?
2. Will it show an error when a Scotrail employee scans the Aztec code on my e-ticket?
3. Should I tell the Scotrail guard I'm catching an earlier train (slight risk of being told no), or not bother?

Yes, as this is a non-reservable connection.
