Tail lights on Northern City Line

The 313s operating on the NCL had to have 3 red lights showing (2 normal and the red destination blind). Now that the 717s have taken over has this rule been removed, or do 717s have the ability to show an extra red? (red on the Cyclops?)

The requirement for 313s was a minimum of 2, the red blind was a backup in case of bulb failure. Same rule applies to 717s but as they are LEDs which are much more reliable, there is no other means for showing another red light. If the LED does fail, it can’t enter the NCL to Moorgate

Would I be right to assume merseyrail operate on the same basis as the rest of the network - that is to say the only requirement is for "a" red light to be displayed to the rear?

Thus in the event of failure, a bardic on a bracket or displayed via the cab back window would suffice?

No battery backup for the reds on a 313, but destination blind lit with the emergency lights within the passenger compartment, so red still provided in the event of a power failure

I guess another point is the LEDs are a cluster so failure of one individual "lamp" isn't going to take out the whole red (assuming they aren't all wired in series...)
