As the thread title says. Happened this morning between South Gosforth and Benton. I hope one of these days they get what they deserve - 1500 volts of direct current.

Just out of curiosity were the trains that were stopping at South Gosforth reversing back there over the points or were they using the depot siding just off the Regent Centre curve?
they would of probably carried on to regent centre then turned in the siding just past the station.
Normally when there is disruption they would use the Regent Centre siding, or if this is not available, the South Gosforth one. There are various difficulties in using the west neck headshunt which you mention due to the way the signalling is set up.
