About 15 years ago when I was in my final year at school I did my work experience at the control room in Gosforth and I was taken out amongst various stretches of the network and one of which was one of the backup control rooms at Manors. Do these still exist and if so whereabouts?

Just a couple of asides here. I was fortunate to be able to drive a single car unit in the depot as well as ride the Manors > Jesmond curve.

Also does the Airport trip wire do exactly that, trip the power if there's an accident or a plane lands short of the runway and hits this?

Would guess that it operates the same way as the trip-wires down from Gatwick Airport station - never realised they had them at Airport metro though it obviously makes sense with the 07 threshold not far away!

think there is some sort of control centre at monument if you go down the escalators to st james/ coast platforms there is a office directly above the escalators and believe the entrance is next to the lift car. believe there is also a small one at heworth directly infront of the ticket barriers, not sure what they are used for just my own observations when out and about
