I am shortly going to attempt to purchase a train and bus day system one card outside of the GMPTE area. Could somebody please help me out with the relevant code the ticket issuer will need? Thanks

The ones I have had recently show "DAYSAVER TB" H004 as the destination and the station in Manchester where I purchased it. The one I purchased at Crewe was issued from Stockport.

Is a YP discount allowed? He nearly issued it with a discount but I said I wasn't sure if it qualified.

"Daysaver TB" should show up on the list of destinations on Fastis (which Northern use), although the origin would have to be a station in the GM area to get the fare to show.

No discounts are applicable.

Thanks. He issued it eventually although he said he was reluctant as he didn't know what it was and couldn't find it in the manual. He was willing to issue it with a 1/3 off but I said I didn't think a discount was applicable so luckily paid full price (6.20).

Interestingly he said he 'wasn't allowed' to issue a West Yorkshire day rover as it was outside the area, which I find a little dubious to be honest. When I said GMPTE he said at first that it wasn't allowed but he relented in the end when I said it could be issued from any staffed station.

This was a Northern station in the Sheffield area (not going to name it exactly).

West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Network West Midlands (n-network) day tickets are all issued on dedicated stock, whereas the GMPTE Daysavers (Train + Bus, Train + Metrolink, Train + Bus + Metrolink being the ones that TOCs issue) are issued on "Common Stock" if bought from a station, hence why a Ticket Office in South Yorkshire is unlikely to be able to issue a West Yorkshire ticket.

Interesting, thanks for that. From experience though, SY Travelmaster stock is only used for weekly or monthly tickets and not for day tickets. Additionally, I'm fairly sure WY Day Rovers can be purchased onboard so I assume in this case the ticket is issued on common stock?

There are fancy pictorial WY Day Rover tickets which stations in West Yorkshire issue them on - presumably makes them easier to spot when inspecting them. If you buy on train (Adult or Concessionary Train only) they're on the usual orange.

Only the Daysaver TM attracts railcard discount. In the case of the Daysaver TM, it can be purchased as either a Manchester - Daysaver TM or 1072 - Daysaver TM (Confusingly London Terminals, although not valid on trains from London to Manchester )

Whilst Avantix may offer a railcard discount, no Child or Railcard discounts are allowed! There's a separate bus only "Junior Day Saver" for under 16s, but apparently no multimodal ticket.

XC TMs have sold the Daysaver TM with a YP discount. And also stations too.

In which case they need rebriefing...And the TOCs involved should have received mismatch notices and had to take a loss for the difference between the fare charged and the correct price.

From the National Rail site:

Concession No child fares or railcard discounts are allowed.

The same also appears in the GMPTE section of The Manual...
