If only Scotland had voted YES we would have been spared this warmongering.
Not that you're a bitter and twisted SNP member or anything like that.

It's likely some rebel group which has old Ukrainian (old Soviet) weapons did it.
Satan!!!
The chap with the horns in his head?
It take all sorts right enough.
Equally, how do you destroy an enemy that hides amongst a civilian population with bombs? It's an utterly flawed approach and we should have learnt our lesson by now after creating a succession of failed states in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.
If Russia intel is accurate then I completely agree that Turkey needs bringing to account for being complicit in funding ISIS .Russia knows this that is why they bombed the pipeline and tankers last week.
Turkey is a NATO member and it seems is the real enemy within.
h
I wasn't talking about cutting off diplomatic relations, I was taking about cutting off investment, not doing business with them. Which we didn't do. We just let them carry on as normal. I know this because a friend of mine's a fairly senior banker and he's spent most of the last two years working in Moscow.
The Russian economy is tanking because Saudi Arabia are driving down the price of oil.
However surely you cannot deny that there are heavy sanctions in place against Russia.
.........................
I thi k I just did. UK businessmen working for UK businesses don't spend two years in countries facing "heavy sanctions"; there's no money in it.

The oil is going to middlemen/gangsters who deal in cash only and sell to anybody.
Turkey buys a lot and nearly all the rest travels through Turkey unhindered.
Also Turkey is allowing refining and extraction equipment to go the other way into ISIL territory to repair bombed oil infrastructure.

Exactly....and what are we doing about Turkey's actions? (Nothing?)
I imagine after the needless shooting down of the Russian plane senior NATO officials are wondering what will happen next.
Strange that the Turkish holidays resorts seem safe.
Thousands of Westerners enjoying a holiday a few hours drive away from ISIS.
I'd guess Islamic State are being bought off, big time.
Don't touch us and you get safe passage and oh we'll buy your oil.
I also read somewhere that the Brimstone missiles being fired by the RAF aircraft were better at preventing civilian causalities. It essentially boiled down to them having higher accuracy than other missiles in use, and being a non-fragmentation warhead. They said that you could survive one landing 5m from you, but had a 50% chance of getting killed if the russian equivalent landed 130m away. It also has very accurate radar and laser guidance systems which help ensure accuracy.
I still feel that if we want to have the best effect, we ought to collaborate with the Syrian government, but that would be a lesser of 2 evils situation. This whole thing began with Assad as the enemy, but now I think he is somewhat key to the overall success.
It will be impossible to achieve a real victory against ISIS without shutting down its sources of funding.
As Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov has already mentioned, illegal oil trade is the main source of income for terrorists.
To terminate this source of funding, the Russian Aerospace Forces have been delivering airstrikes on oil extraction, storage, refining and transportation facilities in ISIS-controlled areas.
Over the past two months, Russian air strikes have inflicted damage on 32 oil production facilities, 11 refineries and 23 oil pumping stations. A total of 1,080 tanker trucks carrying oil and petroleum products have been destroyed.
This has enabled us to reduce the illegal oil turnover in Syria by almost 50 percent.
According to the most conservative estimates, the terrorist groups revenues from its illegal oil operations have gone down from $3 million to $1.5 million a day. Multiply that figure by 4 years. After Russian strikes the terrorists income has decreased and constitutes 1,5 million dollars a day.
However, terrorist organizations continue to receive considerable financial resources, as well as weapons, ammunition and other supplies for their activities. Certain nations, primarily Turkey, are directly involved in Islamic States large-scale business project, thereby aiding the terrorists.
The General Staff of the Russian Federation Armed Forces has irrefutable evidence of Turkeys involvement based on aerial and space reconnaissance data.
Today only a part of available information is to be presented.
We have identified three main oil transportation routes from ISIS-controlled Syrian and Iraqi territories into Turkey.
The Western route leads to the Mediterranean ports, the Northern route leads to the Batman oil refinery and the Eastern one ends at a large transshipment base in Cizre.
We will show you the entire chain of oil supplies into Turkey, from extraction to refining facilities...
Sharm el Sheikh and Tunisia were "safe" holiday destinations right up until they weren't. Don't be so sure.
I wouldn't be holidaying in Turkey this year, put it that way.
You could argue the whole of the eastern Mediterranean might be worth avoiding at the moment and choose somewhere like Portugal instead.
IS don't care about civilians, they will happily butcher and murder hundreds or even thousands of people who don't agree with their cause. In Syria they currently have free reign in the middle of the country. They have training camps, oilfields, command posts etc etc.
What is it going to take for the left wing to realise that we have to destroy this despicable organisation? A Paris style attack in this country? The slaughter in San Bernardino CA was in the name of IS. How many innocent people have to die in the civilised world before the left wing realise that IS need to be destroyed now.
But it seems the Labour Party are far more interested in threatening their own MPs who voted for strike action than destroying IS.

I say "the left" as that includes all the left wing parties who voted against action
