SWT wifi. Is it broken?

I haven't been able to use it for a few weeks now. My phone sees there is a captive portal but no data ever loads. Is anyone else having this problem? Tried it on other devices too. PMH to WAT.

My experience on 450's has been very mixed. Most of the time it will connect, but sometimes won't trigger the login page and you have to do it manually. Sometimes it won't even load the login page.

Interesting one, as I'd almost given up trying to connect as it seemed to be always unavailable. However, I did manage to connect while on a 444 yesterday so maybe there's still hope.

I find 444 wifi shaky at best but 159 wifi (I'm on it now) is amazingly reliable and SO much better than GWR on trains down to Exeter. The gaps in coverage still exist but Exeter-Basingstoke is almost solid now except for a gap around Overton and one around Gillingham but I get much better reception than my EE or Vodaphone phones. In the past 4 months of commuting at least two or three times a week I've only had 2 159's with no wifi but numerous 444's with no wifi.

It used to work if i manually navigated to 192.168.100.1 but even that seems to fail now.

Thinking of it, I think it's always a 444 that i'm on.

I think 159's have a different provider. You have to sign up for a different account and only login via your email address. I also find it much more reliable.

Tend to agree that on the odd times I use 158/9 wifi it is more reliable than 444.

It has got markedly worse since the change in login URL, I am given to understand that guards have now been given a dedicated number to ring if there are problems, so maybe if we keep asking them politely to report then somebody at SWT will do something?

I thought that was what I was told by one of my regular guards, but I may has misinterpreted what he said

Just tried to log on to a number of stationary Desiros at BSK and tried two 450s and 1 444.
Suffice to say the 450s worked but the 444 didn't so it appears to be consistent.
Is everyone else having this issue?

Edit: just boarded a 444 with working wifi. I almost have to pinch myself to believe it.

It was an issue when I went to Exeter the other month but a quick clean of my phones cache and it worked, think my phone has troubles when it has too many of these log in things in the browser but cant confirm that

Are guards able to re-boot the onboard routers for the wi-fi or will that be something that only fitters back in the depot are able/allowed to do?

Depends if they have access to do so, the power might be hard wired into the routers

There is an mcb in one of the cupboards for the WiFi. Can't remember which one though.

This morning I was able to login to the WiFi. Great. Couldn't do anything once I'd done so but at least I could log in. Hehe.

That would make sense, they wouldn't have been allowed to fit new equipment without running through one of these. I believe that spare mcbs are usually fitted to future-proof the carriages.
