I might be getting way ahead of myself here as I'm only mid way through the assessments, but it pays to be informed :)

If I'm lucky enough to get offered a Trainee Driver position, the first 12 months or so will be tough financially but nowhere can I find the exact pay.

Can someone who has done this recently tell me what the salary is for a SWT Trainee Driver? Is it the same throughout training or does it go up in stages?

Thanks.

it has changed and is slightly more now (havent got the document to hand)

Whilst Training
FOR 1st 3 MONTHS, APPROX £19,584 + Regional Allowance
FOR APPROX A FURTHER 4 MONTHS £22,905+ Regional Allowance
FOR APPROX A FURTHER 9 to 12 MONTHS £26,224 + Regional Allowance
FULLY TRAINED AND QUALIFIED
ON COMPLETION OF training £41,167+

Regional Allowance

South East - inc Basingstoke, Bournemouth £415

1st three months is your class room rules (once you pass the final rules exam it goes to the next pay)

22905 bit is practical handling and it finished with your 5 day practical handling test and if you pass you get your master key and pay goes up.

the 26224 bit is qualified driver but route learning.

once you have your final final test and sign all your routes you are qualified and your pay is full from the day you drive on your own for the first time

hope that helps!!
