Hi everyone.

I am thinking about applying for a job as a station assistant on SWT. Can anyone please tell me what the hours are for early, late and night shifts and how often you can expect to do a night shift?

The job says it's a 7 day shift pattern. Do you get a couple of days off in a week or are you expected to work on your days off?

Thanks for any advice
Ian

it varies depending on the station... For example at Eastleigh where I worked you did one week of earlies where you worked 0630-1430 and a week of lates where you worked 1430-2230. You had every other weekend off and a day of during the week.

But as I said this varied considerably with Southampton Airport Parkway down the road which in turn was very different to Southampton Central...

Rail Operator shift times vary according to the demands of each individual station, generally 0600-2300 with some night shifts at a few stations. You may find that you don't get two days off each week as many stations operate a roster over a period of weeks which may result in some weeks having just one day off but others having three or four.
