The train in question actually hit two trees last night, and while it seems like a laugh and a joke they can be a serious threat. Not long after the 450s had been introduced into service, one unit had its front cab written off after striking a tree, had the driver not moved at the last moment the trunk would have impaled his face..

Indeed. Already said I'm glad everyone was ok. I still have a bit of heart.

So it never happens that minor accidents are the subject of jokes and banter in, for example, traincrew messrooms?

It was, sorry for the insensitivity. I hope the driver is okay.

When I were smaller, a tree fell on the caravan we were staying in. I don't think I would've liked a bout of tree puns should they have been brought out...

Once it is confirmed everyone is fine yes it does, but until that is confirmed the subject is not really broached, just because people havent been taken off on stretchers doesnt mean people havent suffered emotionally/ psychologically by the incident.

When somebody jumps in front of a train the driver wont normally be physically injured but the emotional damage can be huge, is it okay to take the **** because the driver wasnt 'injured' in the physical sense?

the speed the jokes started on this thread was (in my opinion) in bad taste.

The timing of the jokes was a tad insensitive, and there is probably little more to add to this thread.
