Hi,

I am planning on taking the SWT service from Salisbury to Bristol. I know that in the past it was run by the two class 158's that SWT had. Now that they have left, what is running these services? Unrefurbished 158's or new 159/1's.... Or I suppose it could be old 159's.

When I last saw it on a Saturday it had a 159/1, but of course, it could be a 159/0.

The 158s 'aren't going to London' until they've been refurbished, I believe.

FGW use 153s, though mainly 150s & 158s to Bristol (apart from 158 + 153 etc.), but I don't think SWT have ever had any 153s for a slow service?

MAinly it is 158's on the stopping service Automotive Historian refers to, Salsbury - Bristol, any 159. I must stress before any confusion comes THERE ARE NO BOOKED 159/1 DIAGRAMS

No, but that doesn't mean SWT can't 'siphon off' the 159/1s to work on the Bristol diagrams because someone important lives there.

But, yes, it is random, more likely to be a /0 as there are 22 of them compared to (up to) 8 /1s.

1 unrefurb 158 has visited London, another was going to but was swapped at Salisbury.
