SWT industrial action

[P156KWJ]

hi,
just noticed on national rail that SWT's ASLEF drivers were planning a strike from this Monday-Thursday, but it has been called off http://nationalrail.co.uk/service_bulletins/c766e1530a04000401cefa201862e241.html

does anyone know why there was going to be one in the first place?

Take a read through this (it's 15 pages but has lots of input from SWT staff members. The strike would have made getting to/from work rather fun for us SWT commuters! SWT made a point of mentioning that they had lots of buses from sister company Stagecoach at their disposal, then when they released the planned timetable for them it must have dissapointed a few people when they had a look! I seem to recall that, for example, the last train away from Waterloo to the likes of Surbiton was not much past 8pm which for that route would probably have affected quite a number of people. A lot of the buses were only useable if you had a prior reservation too.
