The interview really is just a standard guards one. Have you ever dealt with an emergency, have you ever dealt with a disgruntled or unhappy person, have you ever gone beyond the "call of duty" to please someone, how do you feel about working unsociable hours, how do you feel about wearing a uniform, have you ever worked with rules and regs, what do you think of followig rules, why do you think this is important, what do you think the role of guard entails, why do you think you would be good at it, what do you know about South West Trains.
and one i was asked today which is new... Where is the furthest west that we operate.
I'm not really prepared to tell you about the role play as it is fairly regulated and it would be unfair to other candidates if you knew what was coming. suffice to say you will be given a scenario and some fact sheets and you will have ten minutes to study and make notes. you can keep these sheets and all your notes for the actual role play. then you will act out the scenario with another person who will act as a customer and you will be marked on how well you deal with the person, what you say, whether you are clear or not, whether you did the right thing.
just relax and be yourself and you should have no real problems. oh and when asked are rules important probably best to say "yes, very!!"
