SWT Disruption between Bournemouth and Poole

A broken down freight train is causing disruption between Branksome and Parkstone.

Because of this, there are delays of up to 45 minutes between Bournemouth and Poole. These delays will continue until further notice.

Is it another Class 70 producing a bit of clag?

But the branch for Bournemouth Depot (formally Bournemouth West station) is just before Branksome, unless they can leave them in some sidings I haven't thought off?

Thinking about it you do have to double back through Branksome station to get to the Depot as the track on the viaduct has long since been lifted. Which begs the question of why did they not lift the track to Branksome instead, it would seem to be more logical?

Apparently a freight train slipped to a stand on a steep incline in the Pokesdown area due to poor rail conditions.

I notice that it's basically exactly the same place that a steam loco failed due to poor rail conditions on Saturday morning.

Not for a number of years, The oil sidings are on track to became a new
depot for the Swanage Railway.

I thought the reason was that it closed temporarily for a couple of years while the SWML was being electrified, and BR then decided that there was no point reopening West as Central was coping fine on its own (and the line to Bath via Blandford had already closed).

I think it closed so they could build the depot.

After putting in the reversing sidings at Central there would have been no point in reopening West and in any case the depot has taken over the space where the old running lines were. The 3 daily l/h cross country services were extended to Poole to run round.
