Besides the whole door sounder and AC motor business, does anyone know if the 455s will get a front destination display, like their Southern cousins?

The front destination displays seem to be becoming standard on all DMUs and EMUs now

Travelled on what seemed to be a partially refurbed 455/9 today in that it was bright with new seat covers but had no new door speakers. The hopper windows seemed to have been modified to open wider and had a mechanism that looks like it's designed to prevent them slamming shut if another train overtakes. Didn't get the unit number but it was the front unit of the 07.21 from Raynes Park to Waterloo if that's of any use.

You're lucky it had new seat covers, on most of them they haven't been touched or if they have then just the odd replacement. I remember being mentioned the TSO coach of 5912 has wide window hoppers as it was taken from a Class 210 prototype (the original TSO having prototype plug doors). The TSI-PRM mods which the door speakers and new inter-car door handles are part of is a slightly separate project.
(I think it is quite amusing when the windows slam shut ).

I think quite a number of SWTs stock is undergoing a mini refurbishment lately as a number of 450s seem to be looking cleaner inside, with new seat covers and new carpet as well - about time, but well done to SWT and Siemens as they still look relatively new, rather unlike their Southern & SE cousins.

I did notice a few of the recent repainted units as well today, but I hope some window work is included - especially to the ex PEP coaches, as the one I had this evening evidently had leaked at some point and had left a nice bit of something akin to mould around its frame.

I recall a mention about doorway carpets being replaced in the 450s, but apart from that I haven't noticed anything that is different. More important is the need to repaint them, the paintwork is extremely faded and a lot of them are showing white patches around the roof.

Do the current ones meet the disability access regs?

Why would a destination blind need to comply with these regs?

I've noticed a few 455s are looking very clean below the solebar, like they've been repainted but the motors sound the same.

They would be the ones that have recently received overhauls!

The re-powering is happening but the normal overhauls will continue as now otherwise they would end up with a lot of failures or half the fleet parked up because the re-powering of a unit will take about 3 times longer than an overhaul does.
It isnt an either a re-power/or an overhaul situation.

They have had the faded roofs for years, some have been repainted, others still need doing.

So, 5730, 5731 and 5741 are the refurbed ones I've seen so far; anyone seen any others?

EDIT: Just seen 5723 as well!
