I saw the SWT Bubblecar today on the Down? Test Valley, heading south towards Romsey just north of Dean station. Is it used through Southampton? The last time I was on a DMMU through Soton was on a Portsmouth - Bristol back in, oh, 1975?

It was actually on it's last mainline trip as it has been handed over to preservation at the Swanage railway or SDR apparently so you were lucky to get a last mainline view of her.

Wow! Coincidence again...we drove along the A36 Alderbury & Whaddon by-pass, again northbound, once before and passed by CLAN LINE steaming the opposite way. I had seen the 'car in the depot at Salisbury on Sunday when we picked up my daughter's new car.

Nice memory though isn't it to say you past the last Bubble car in your area on it's last mainline run.
Sometimes that's what make the railways so special.

It's basically the end for SWT's once extensive heritage fleet. :(

After this the only two companies with a heritage fleet will be arriva and Chiltern with their Bubble cars.
I think they were right about MK1's going out of revenue earning passenger service.

I suppose you could count FCC's Class 03. But then if you count that, you ought to count the various 08s in use by TOCs, don't FGW and London Midland have one or two?
