Hi guys, I currently have an unfinished SWT alternative commuter map that I have made.

Red represents services diverging to Wandworth Town and green is for services via Earlsfield.

Black is for services through both destinations.

Any comments will be appreciated.

I think you may need to stick the stations names into the map which would make things much easier for others.

I *think* I know what the map shows, but can't be sure without the station names.

You might want to move the 2 legs for the Shepperton branch to the left a bit as they divert near Strawberry Hill not Twickenham, that would also make it look like a proper branch and not just 2 other services on the Windsor side.

Also what is it that you are trying to show? Is it service frequency? Is it service pattern? Is it stock allocation?

Yep, I just wanted to vectorise the image, then I can add the station names, and hopefully it would be readable.

Good point actually, yeah I will move them.

It shows the individual services of trains, instead of just a large map.

Its a good start but a few questions if I may-
What are the 2 black routes that go across the top, I am not familiar with them?
You are showing 4 lines (stations) at the bottom, the only shared stations are Waterloo, Vauxhall and Clapham jn where the lines diverge. Queenstown Road is only on the Windsor lines.

Hi 455 driver :)
- I do apologise, Queenstown road was purely a mistake, I will correct that.
- Correct me if im wrong, I have never had time to see, but I was under the assumption that SWT services to Addlestone (Weybridge) return to waterloo via Walton on Thames and Berrylands.

Many thanks!!

Seeming that Ive got a whole Sunday free, I can do this to my hearts content!!!!!

No need to apologise its a good start.

Weybridge services are all routed via the Hounslow loop and not direct up the Windsor side and they terminate in the bay at Weybridge and return back to Waterloo via Virginia Water and Hounslow. The stopping trains through Weybridge run to/from Woking (with some extended to/from Guildford.
The last service terminates in Platform 2 (up slow line) but then runs empty back to Wimbledon Park depot.

Windsor services run direct up the Windsor main lines and not via the Hounslow loop.
These help form the semifast services with the Reading services.

It might be worth adding the Chessington, Epsom and Dorking services off to the left as well but it might make it a bit complicated.

Hope that helps, it is still a good map and quite easy to follow and I am looking forward to seeing this develop.

Thank you very much - enough there to keep me busy and content.

I have tried to think of everything that you could usefully put on the map without it appearing that I am berating it, thart most certainly isnt my intention.

Sorry to add more but-
What about the Guildford via Cobham and via Epsom services that join up at Effingham jn and then join up with the via Woking services at Guildford.
Also the Dorking services that diverge from the Guildford via Epsom services at Leatherhead.
From the mainline-
The Chessington, Dorking and Via Epsom services all diverge (to the left) at Raynes Park.
The Chessingtons then diverge (to the right) at Motspur Park.

That is all I can think of for the normal weekday peak, promise. ;)

Affirmative, currently adding some branding to it, but I will be sure to send you a copy nearer to completion, many thanks!

The one in the middle is yes, the top one is via Weybridge and Virginia Water but is going to be altered.

Edit-
Just seen another one (sorry), I see you have got the Raynes Park starter on there so adding to this, in the evening there are a couple of fast trains from Waterloo to Surbiton only so you could add them if you want (or leave them out if its too much).

Sorry 455 driver, I have not yet made the line and station adjustments, but I have just worked on a few design elements first.

I know the oyster zoning is wrong, but I don't have a map handy atm so will correct tomorrow.

Trust me I will not ignore your ideas atall!!!!!

I see, but then is Shepperton not on there?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Hang on, I think I have it.

Shepperton is not shown as the end of the line on there I guess.

The Shepperton route is there but it is beside the Windsor lines, Waterboo is going to move the Shepperton line to the left a bit to make them clearer.

For the Oyster area use this map: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/oyster-rail-services-map.pdf:

In general, boundary stations are:
Feltham (Hounslow/Reading/Windsor lines)
Hampton (Shepperton line)
Surbiton (Main Line; Woking via Weybridge and Guildford via Cobham stoppers)
Epsom (Dorking line and Guildford via Epsom stopping service)
The whole Chessington South and Hampton Court lines
Of course all stations in the "up" direction from these have Oyster valid.

You need to remove the ":" at the end of your link as it's not working.

It should be:

SWT used to (before the 2004 timetable major re-write) do this map, seems exactly what you are trying to achieve.

I think the revised design is very good. Personally I would prefer that a few more 45 degree lines are used so that what is effectively two branches coming out of Waterloo are shown as such, but that is not a major problem.

You have missed off Whitton station. Also I think you need to indicate that the service to Shepperton via Richmond are peak-only.
