Just been informed that tomorrow 10/7 73235 will be running a special tomorrow to mark the retirement of one of the Controllers at Waterloo.
Don't have exact timings but
5Z41 09.34 Bournemouth Depot-Wimbledon Park Arr 12.02
1Z43 14.20 Waterloo-Brockenhurst via Chertsey Arr 17.02
5Z44 ECS Brock-Bournemouth Depot
Apprently 73109 is rumoured to be in action as well although I'm not sure.
Quite good as I may be in the area tomorrow:grin:
Anyone have exact timings please?
;)

is that one of SWT's 421s or their 423?

Take a guess.... EDIT : I used this comment to take a guess on which one they use seeing as the VEP hasn't been used alot.

Useful as ever Fred.

First post suggests CIG so it will be a 421 I imagine. Far more comfortable than a VEP anyway!

I assume that it will use the Down link into the Lymington platform? This was one used by the old Eastleigh-Lymington service but is there any scheduled use now, apart from the p/way trains to the p/way sidings?

Ignore him, he's hardly a wise beacon of knowledge himself.

Your not exactly nice yourself, so you have a cheek so slag me off, when you ignore me telling you decent places for 37s

Fred, just stop it. You were deliberately unhelpful. Why not apologise? And don't bring other things into it.

You wonder why people have a go at you? Well, I am not condoning it, but I can see why. :|

Fred, you are the one that calls EDs "hellfire", yet are passing up this oppurtunity for a day's worth of haulage (if SWT employ their usual ticketing policy)!

For no apparent reason either.

The thought had crossed my mind, but you seem so confident you will go to all the big veg spots over the summer I guessed Lymington wasn't a problem.

Anyway it would only £15 - £20 and quite a few veg on here will be there to look after you.

I'd have gone, but it would have meant a 3/4 hour journey there, and I didn't have any money. If I did, I'd have gone, and that's coming from someone who's only been down that way once!

Good day out yesterday with 87015, 37402, HP, MP, RD, IS & Cpt Doss. Had 5 trips on the branch, only downer on the day was when a SWT member of staff jicked off saying we had been in the front compo behind the loco for about 2 hours and other people hadn't had chance too. The reply was something like well they are all on 20p cardboard things while some of us had the £1.30 returns or FOSS rovers. They then got the security staff to us at Lymington Town although he couldn't do anything as we were valid, besides some bloke kicked off and started attacking 402 with a pushchair so we told the security to go and deal with him!

Out of interest, is Lymington as a town usually as busy on a Saturday? I was expecting a fairly quiet backwater type place but it was absolutely heaving with presumably locals and a few daytrippers thrown in.

Was a good show by SWT but possibly a bit wedged, might have been an idea to have the ED out on a different day to one where it was 'attract a lot of normals' aswell.
