Evening all.
I was trying to book a ticket from Tisbury to Wimbledon on the new SWR website for tomorrow evening (leaving about 5pm/6pm) but it wouldn't show any entries except for early morning/late evening; clicking on the train I wanted thence advised me to contact the Telesales team.
Is there a problem with the website at the moment? (thetrainline produced a similar lack of joy.)

Cheers all, and Happy New Year.

The problem is that the fastest route (doubling back from Clapham Junction) is not permitted, and the SWR and Trainline booking engines do not automatically suggest the slower route changing at Woking onto a stopping train.

You can bring it up by using the more flexible interface to the SWR booking engine at the following URL:
http://tickets.southwesternrailway.com/sw/en/JourneyPlanning/MixingDeck
Under the "To" station, click on "more options" and add Esher as a via station - this will then bring up some permitted itineraries.

In an ideal world they should show you the fastest journey you can make on a single ticket but they don't and when they don't, they don't always want to sell you a ticket either.

Certainly not user friendly.

The only time two tickets should be shown is where one through ticket isn't available in my opinion.
