Just had two "with regret" emails through from SWR re my applications to Waterloo and Guildford, despite being successful passing the initial online SJT, and having already passed the assessment day in July last year with another TOC. Especially as the ones they've maybe put through to next stage have no guarantees of passing the assessment day yet I'm one step ahead. Nonsensical.

Is it just me or is there zero consistency in applying in this industry?

To say I'm gutted is an understatement and has really put me off. I know the majority of people will say keep putting the applications in but the length of time it takes for them to respond etc does my head in.

Only one other "live" application left with a different TOC and haven't even had an email from them despite putting the application in some time ago....

Rant over. Good luck to you all

Good luck mate, railway recruitment is very difficult to grasp your head round. The SWR one specifically, after passing the SJT is a bit of a pisstake to be fair. It just doesn't make sense. I haven't received anything from them (yet) but am not holding any high hopes, I know how recruitment/HR works and know better at this point.

I've failed a DMI just like you and currently am focusing on my interview prep/technique for whenever the next opportunity pops up. HR and their decisions I can't control, but I can at least prepare my ass off for any potential interviews. Wish you all the best mate.
