SWR Train Driver Accommodation Query

Hello,

I know XC put their trainee train drivers up in hotels, but they train in Derby and have drivers across the UK.

I believe SWR train in Basingstoke, do they put drivers up in a hotel if they're not local or is everyone expected to commute?

I believe SWR do not offer hotels, at least they didn't when I trained as a guard there this year.

Only island line staff get hotels is what I was told by HR. Definitely the case for guards. Think it’s the case for drivers too. Their argument is nowhere on the network is too far from Basingstoke (although ironically try applying for a safety critical role in Basingstoke and they’d be sure to bounce your application due to timing if you live in Waterloo or Weymouth)

No Hotels, you commute up to Basingstoke. Its pretty accessible from 90% of their Depots.
