Does anyone know if a SWR Touch Smartcard with Tap2Go enabled, would it work for journeys between Guildford and Victoria (changing at Clapham Junction).

I’m finding the guidance online a bit confusing. Pasted below:

“You can only use Tap2Go as far as London Waterloo and it can't be used to travel to any other London Terminal. Your Tap2Go Smartcard may also be used to travel on Southern services between Dorking and London Victoria or London Bridge including all intermediate stations.”

Any help would be appreciated!

It is valid to London Victoria. The FAQ (at the bottom of the page) is pretty clear if you look at conditions 3.1 to 3.3.

As someone who’s now tested this, can confirm it definitely works to Victoria

I understand that it's the inability to differentiate routes and fares that have stopped GTR expanding Keygo West of Warblington and East of Bexhill.

Very poor wording. This effectively contradicts itself.

From Dorking do you get charged the any permitted fare instead of the Southern Only one?
Presumably as they have no idea whether you took SWR to clapham or the direct train. Interesting example of the direct train being cheaper and why it may be difficult to implement a more network wide contactless system
