SWR Smartcard season ticket

Hi all,

After some advice regarding smartcards on SWR. I currently have a Z1-6 travelcard loaded on to my Oyster card. Once this expires in a couple of weeks I will only want a Feltham to London annual gold card.

Firstly I assume a Feltham to London ticekt can't be loaded on to an Oyster card?

If not is it possible to load this on to an SWR smart card? The website is not clear, for stations in Z1-6 it just states London and Travelcard area (shaded). Travelcards activated
on smartcards can be used within this area. For journeys
wholly within the shaded area, use contactless or Oyster for
Pay As You Go travel.

Contactless and Oyster PAYG are useless to me as they will work out more expensive than an annual ticket, but I don't really want to go back to a paper ticket and having to get it changed every couple of months either..

You can't load a rail only journey on to an Oyster card, and you can't currently load a rail only season onto SWR smartcards if the journey is wholly within the Travelcard area.

In your case, you'll need to buy a paper season ticket.

I wonder, do you no longer need a travelcard because you will become eligible for a 60+ card or Freedom Pass?

If so, don't forget that the only Feltham/London rail journeys you will then have to pay for are those before 09:30 M-F. Your evening return journeys will be free. If you therefore will have only five morning journeys to pay for each week, I suggest PAYG or contactless.

Ha, thanks for the tip but I have over 30 years before I'm eligible for that! I've started cycling to the station so no longer need tube/ bus services.

Thanks also to Wobble for the response. A bit rubbish and not what I wanted to hear but what can you do? A paper ticket to be replaced every 2-3 months it is
