Hi all,
I’m looking for some general advice and reassurance about a rail ticketing issue I’m currently dealing with involving South Western Railway.
I was recently stopped and reported for a ticketing irregularity. After this, I was contacted by SWR and responded cooperatively, acknowledged the issue, and stated that I would be willing to resolve the matter and cover any outstanding fares.
They then carried out a review and asked me to look over a number of past journeys and confirm details. I completed this honestly and returned it.
I’ve now received a follow-up saying their enquiries are complete and that the case has been passed to their prosecutions team, who will decide the outcome.
I just wanted to ask:
- Is this a normal step in the process for cases like this with SWR?
- Do cases at this stage still sometimes get resolved by settlement rather than going to court?
I’ve been fully cooperative throughout and am hoping to resolve this without it escalating further, so any general insight would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
