All 444/450 have SWR interiors.
All the 444s and 450s have been completed inside for ages, IIRC it was a completely separate contract to the exterior work. Except for the couple of vinyled units, I don’t think the new livery painting started until nearly every interior was done.
Out of interest, I was thinking about this the other day - I seem to remember that the original artists' impressions of the new interiors for the 444s had 3+2 seating; did this actually happen in the end?

(I've not kept up-to-date with this thread, and despite being a regular SWR user, I'm pretty much solely on 455s and 456s which - I note with some amusement - still advertise Waterloo for Eurostar services on their network maps!!)

I dont remember that (2+3) ever being suggested, but they did shorten the 444 first class area by making it 2+2 but still with a similar capacity as before.

Would 2+3 actually fit in a 444? Aren’t they thinner (and longer) than 450s? Having said that Bombardier got 2+3 into the 720s and they’re even longer.

I doubt it, they are about the narrowest bodies around, 2.688m on the data plates.

A 450 has been put in a special key worker livery
I don’t like it. It looks unfinished with the white. The key worker thing is also quite cringeworthy and extremely outdated now - perhaps in May 2020 it would be appropriate but now that we’re getting back to normal a year and a bit later, it just seems out of place.

the gesture is nice but its just a bit late. if they were doing it for the 3 who lost their lives due to the virus, a plaque would've been better at Waterloo or wherever that member of staff was based. or even a named train. After all, swr have 127 450s, im sure they could name 3

I agree, and the livery looks like a rushed job; incredibly overdue too. Whilst it would have been nice to have proper name plates, it is a massive engineering undertaking, and the vinyl names look.nice.

All in all it has a nice concept to it

This doesn’t surprise me at all - it’s SWR. The majority of their fleet is still in SWT livery, and with the 442s gone and the 701s not even in service yet, almost as if it’s still the same since they took over the franchise…

I really don't understand what seems like the general malaise with SWR. It's not even as if it's stayed the same as when it first took over. It's on its third MD (the last one in particular having a very good reputation) and the franchise ended, being replaced by a National Rail Contract, yet it still feels like its just taken over from SWT..

nowhere
Maybe they get a special revised livery with it being due to replaced and then retained, when that happens they either stay in the current livery or an Interim.

There's no point doing anything beyond "keep it moving" until they go for conversion, at which point they'll get the full livery and interior refurb

Proper name plates are a massive engineering undertaking these days in terms of paperwork. Drilling holes in trains is never too popular….

going on at the pace the 444's and 450's are being repainted the franchise/contract will be finished before they get the 458's even started

The 458s are not being done by Bournemouth. They will be done by Alstom at Widnes so completely independent of the Desiro repaint programme, which has been contracted by Siemens to SWR Bournemouth.

thanks for that goldfish. I just assumed that Bournemouth were doing them.
Bournemouth is only doing the Desiros because it was fortunate enough to win the tender for the work. Coincidence that it happens to be part of SWR.

As this is the right forum, does anyone know whats going on with the 159/1s none have been refurbished yet even though they finished on the 159/0s ages ago. Also they seem to have applied the livery to the 159s yet not changed the interiors.
