SWR Platform Zoning

It appears Platform 3 at Bournemouth now has platform zoning

The SWR website says that “Sway, Haslemere, Brockenhurst, Hilsea and Clapham Junction's platform 9” have platform zoning as a trial.

Any idea why Bournemouth may have it? Thanks

A good idea in my opinion, maybe with Great British Railways (GBR) we will have a national standard for platform zoning. Rather than each operator doing their own thing.

Zone markings have recently appeared all along the Portsmouth Direct as well.

I noticed at Haslemere the other day that there are new platform displays, using white text with much higher resolution than the previous yellow dot matrix departure boards. Presumably these will be able to show which zone to wait in for each class or wheelchair and bike space etc.

If it's linked Poole has got white platform displays now, maybe that is just part of the zoning system? SWR have said that zoning will be able to direct passengers to less busy carriages etcetera which sounds like a good concept bearing in mind the contrast between empty and full carriages on the SWML.
