Well well - I have never noticed the unit numbers appearing in the "Operated with" box for such a move. In fact there is no loco .
Perhaps MML electrification appears to have been done on the cheap. Anyone counted the number of rails going up there lately .

A thought I have is that SWR might be hedging their bets and these 455s are just going for storage prior to scrapping in case they are needed.
Are they totally knackered / stripped ?.

25/11/2025 WNXX is reporting that the 455's at Litchurch Lane will be stripped of anything useful and then the bodyshells will be disposed of. No breakers have been named in this report. The reports also states that the ones at Newport docks maybe moved up to Derby. I guess we just wait and see.

Presumably ownership of a vehicle has to be transferred to the scrap merchant at some point before it is taken apart. So who owns the units already at Newport? If it is SIMS, the leasing company cannot decide on what happens to them unless they buy them back from the liquidators.

That rather depends if Unimetals have paid for them.

And if the contract's been signed but payment not made, it could get messy - depending on what precisely it says in the contract. Personally, I'm wondering if one of the reasons why the stockpile has built up is that Unimetal have not wanted to trigger liability to pay the leasing company.
