From a passenger perspective I’d rather they get rid of the 450s from metro services before scrapping more 455s but I can see how that comes with a financial penalty.

I prefer the 450s. The air con alone makes them better.

Capacity. On the Epsom routes, anyway.

My regular route home on a Tuesday is via CLJ where I have to wait for one of the semi-fasts because the 450s on the 17:34ish are rammed.

455s have more standing room.

According to rtt the London Waterloo to Guildford half hourly Sunday service diagrams were fully 455 last week. Does anyone know if this is likely to be the case tomorrow? I might try get some units on the Guildford line - this'll be my final copping I reckon

They struggle to keep time. Yesterday the 1450 Woking was on the heels of the 1447 Chessington all the way to Wimbledon. It still hadn't departed Raynes Park as we went whizzing past on the main slow line.

I thought it was 2 a week already, with one drag on Monday and one drag on Wednesday.
It's not too dissimilar in the way that the Southern 455's went, four units went per week on two drags and the whole fleet was gone in 3 months.

Capacity at Newport may end up being the limiting factor, as they are also handling TfW class 150s, and judging from another thread, Varamis Class 321s.

By all accounts the Chinese have reduced imports of scrap metal this year, and Newport only has so much space before they need a big ship to collect it all.
Looking at very recent drone footage, Newport looks rather full of units awaiting shredding, so maybe the space for the stored shredded metal is a bit full.

Some weeks have had 2 scrap drags with variation from week to week how many runs. They are only uploaded a few days before so it's possible this week could also have two.

This morning there are 33 units out (16 pairs and one single) with the end of the reduced summer timetable. Think it's low 50s with SWR now so the gap is a bit smaller though still several more units than required.

It was 5848, I’ve checked the video carriage numbers and it was 5853/5848 physically and personally seen as I said, sent for scrap.
